How to book ticket With Baggage Insurance in IRCTC

Baggage Insurance is recently introduced to online Passengers by Indian Railway. In order to provide more facilities for the train tickets booked online IRCTC has introduced a new service ‘Baggage Insurance’ for Passenger. Under this scheme, while a customer booking an e-tickets in online, he/she will be offered additional services like insurance coverage for baggage. The passenger can claim the insurance money in case of lost or theft of the baggage. The goods like laptop, mobile phone & other valuable articles will be covered under the travel insurance package.

 

How to Book Train ticket With Baggage Insurance in IRCTC:

Follow the below steps to book the train ticket along with the Baggage insurance options in IRCTC. Booking Insurance for your travel luggage s is not available now. It’s under the Indian railways plan. so we just need to wait for the to be enabled in the IRCTC Web Portal

Steps for Booking Travel Baggage Insurance in IRCTC

Step #1: Log in IRCTC Application with your User name & Password

Step #2: Now select “Plan My Travel”. Enter the From & To Station

Step #3: Now select the Date of Journey & ticket type (i.e.) where e-ticket/i-ticket

Step #4: Click on Submit button & Trains will be listed out in the table

Step #5:  After select the option whether is it general ticket/ Tatkal Ticket. Train will be listed out. Click on the Class and the train you want to travel

Step #6: Fill the Passenger details.

Step #7: Now select Baggage Insurance & enter the details of the goods that you are going to carry along with you.

Note: The insurance premium will be depend on the length of the journey and also the class of travel

Step #8: Pay your money along with the train ticket.

    While booking, I forget to book IRCTC train ticket with Insurance. So is it possible to book insurance now for the same e-ticket. If so could you please tell me the procedure for booking the baggage insurance & personal insurance for the same.

    No you can’t book baggage insurance after booking train ticket. It should be booked at time of booking.
