Set Destination/Endpoint Alert on Mobile during Train Travel

There are various different ways to identify exact train spot. There are also many apps also which help to find where you can track live spot of train. Now IRCTC has announced a new facility which sends SMS or CALL before you reach the destination. You need not to have smartphone for this. A normal basic mobile phone will be enough to get the SMS/CALL from Indian Railways

I exclusively want to write this article because I used to travel in night train. So morning sometimes I feel asleep. Also I feel very difficult to get up early in the morning. When I travel in night train I will ask the respective train TTR to wake me up at my spot. Now IRCTC has provided a new option for us. When we can set endpoint alert on mobile during train travel , it will automatically give us a CALL/SMS at the destination point.

Railway Passengers can set destination alert in three ways on

  • 139 Railway Enquiry Service IVR
  • 139 Railway Enquiry service with assistance from customer service Executive
  • SMS 139 from your mobile to set the destination alert during train travel with one simple keyword

Steps for Activating Destination Alert on 139 IVR

Want to know how to activate destination alert on 139 IVR. Follow the steps given below to do the same

Step #1: Dial 139 from the Mobile you want you want to set Destination Alert

Step #2: Choose your preferred language

Step #3:  Select option 7 from the IVR main menu

Step #4:  Press -2 for Destination Alert

Step #5:  Enter your 10 digit PNR number

Step #6: Press 1 to confirm your PNR number

Destination alert shall be set for the given PNR Number; you will also receive a confirmation message on your mobile as “DESTINATION ALERT CALL has been set on your mobile number for <Destination Station Name>”.

Steps for Activating Destination Alert with Assistance from 139 customer Service Executive:

While conversing with the Customer Service Executive

  • Please convey your 10 digit PNR number
  • Please reconfirm your mobile number on which endpoint alert is to be set
  • Customer Service Executive will confirm that last stop alert has been set

You will also receive a confirmation message on your mobile as “DESTINATION ALERT CALL has been set on your mobile number for <Destination Station Name>”.

Activating Destination Alert through SMS on SMS 139:

You can also set endpoint alert using SMS 139 service. JUST send following SMS from the mobile on which you want to activate Alert

ALERT<PNR NUMBER>

You will also receive a confirmation message on your mobile as “DESTINATION ALERT CALL has been set on your mobile number for <Destination Station Name>”.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Call/SMS only from the mobile number on which you want to set destination alert.
